The name 'Songho' (Pine Pond) comes from the luxuriant old pine trees, fine sand, and the gentle crystal waves.

This is the only beach in Haenam. A large number of visitors from Seoul, Kyonggi-do, Kyongsang-do, and other places come here with their families in the summertime. Once it marked a record of 25 thousand visitors a day. Connected with Pogildo Island in Wando-gun, famous for Puyongdong built by Kosan Yun Son-do, Songho Beach is considered one of the best tourist courses along with Ttangkkut, about 3 kilometers away from here. It has a lot of places for sightseeing. Pine trees hundreds of years old, grow for about a kilometer along the bank, and the gentle slope full of fresh greenery is suitable for camping.

When the tide goes out, the sea retreats over 150 meters off the shore, leaving a fine sandy beach. At the village of Kalsan-ri near the beach, trees of camellia and magnolia form a community of thick forest.
