Haenam is planning to build ' Dinosaur Theme Park and Exhibition Center ' in Woo-hang-ri as the best place to study natural history.
The Cultural and Art Center which was completed in 2002 has been used as a theatre, a cultural center, a library as well as it has supported cultural and artistic activities of the county people.
By 2008, Haenam has a plan to construct a ship-building industry complex 400,000 pyong of Gu-rim-ri, Hwa-won-myon. For this, it is developing a 45,000 pyong site and if the complex is completed, it is expected it will contribute to activation of local economy such as creation of more jobs and increase of population. Haenam plans to build a tourism and leisure city with a population of 70,000 on the 10,000,000pyong site of San-i-myon, Hae-nam-gun and Samho, Young-am-gun by 2012. By 2016 it will construct an international culture, tourism and resort-oriented city, which will be a new turning-point of Haenam development.
