The King Cherry Tree, belonging to the cherry tree family, was estimated to be transmitted from Halla Mountain in Jeju Island to Japan. However in April 1965, it was discovered in Daedun Mountain and Bogil Island in Wan Island. Among the two King Cherry Trees designated as natural monuments, the first tree is 12 meters in height and 1.32 meters in diameter, and its trunk is divided into three branches which are each 97cm 37cm, and 56cm in diameter at the breast height. The second one is 8.7 meters in height and its trunk is divided into two branches which are 87cm and 27cm in diameter at the breast height. Before it was discovered in Daedun Mountain, the King Cherry Tree was known to grow only on Halla Mountain in Jeju Island. However, a natural stand of the King Cherry Tree was also discovered in Daedun Mountain, which is if great significance. This place was designated as a natural monument on January 31, 1966.
